As part of the Global Scholars Program, Teens4Disarmament has had the opportunity to study and research the political, social, and environmental effects of nuclear weapons on our world. In an assembly with more than four hundred students and faculty, Teens4Disarmament presented their knowledge to further educate the community about the historical timeline of nuclear weapons and their role in society today.
The Global Scholars Program, dedicated to assisting students in acquiring the values, knowledge, and abilities necessary to become proactive, kind leaders and global citizens, provides the opportunity for students to address a critical global issue in a meaningful interdisciplinary way. Students, guided by their will for peace, gain a comprehensive understanding of our world as well as learn about the main concerns facing humanity today.
Throughout our journey with the Global Scholars Program, Teens4Disarmament has thoroughly researched the role of nuclear weapons in both the past and present. By participating in different forums, events, and keynote speeches, we connected with many geographically diverse youths and experts to gain the full scope and knowledge of international security challenges of nuclear weapons and understand the nuclear weapons on the environment and people. In addition, we graciously utilized the school coursework and curriculum to educate ourselves on this topic. While we work to educate our communities, we also recognize the importance of continuously educating ourselves throughout this process, which is why we are incredibly grateful to have this learning opportunity through the Global Scholars Program.
With our engagement in the Global Scholars Program, we hope to not only expose the tragic past surrounding nuclear weapons but also aim to provide the seeds of hope for students to make change.
